Fashion District Innovation Challenge Prize

Fashion District, in collaboration with the Fashion Innovation Agency, has launched the Retail Futures 2020: Fashion District Innovation Challenge Prize.

What is Retail Futures 2020?

Fashion District innovation challenges aim to find innovative solutions to current industry issues across retail, manufacture and design. It gives startups and SMEs the opportunity to win cash prizes and support, as well as the chance to pitch to retailers and innovators.

The challenge is open to applications from tech startups that have the potential to tackle challenges or present new opportunities in fashion and retail supply chains. Potential solutions could include:

  • Improving personalisation
  • Developing community engagement
  • Sustainable supply chain and retail
  • Enriching retail data
  • Creating creative and experiential retail moments.

What’s on offer?

A cash prize of £15,000 for the winner to invest in their idea, along with two runner-up prizes of £5,000. All three winners will receive two one-year hot-desking memberships at The Trampery Fish Island Village.

The winner will also receive a 12-month membership to Stylus.com, which provides access to consumer insight and free entry to Decoded Future London 2021.

What’s the deadline?

The deadline for applications is July 1 2020, and the finals event will be held in October 2020.

FinTech Innovation Lab London

The FinTech Innovation Lab London is a three-month global accelerator programme for ambitious start ups. It provides mentoring, networking and support, and is suitable for early and growth-stage companies with at least a beta technology or product with applications in the fintech sector.

5G Testbed Accelerator Programme

Digital Catapult’s 5G Testbed Accelerator Programme is a 20-week programme to support early-stage businesses to develop innovative products and services using 5G technologies.

Programme participants can benefit from:

  • Access to 5G testing facilities
  • Technology support
  • Business mentoring
  • Expertise and support
  • Help to access funding.

CyLon: Support for cybersecurity businesses

CyLon supports cybersecurity businesses to grow and succeed through a combination of security, investment and business expertise. Services include:

  • Pre-accelerator programmes for individuals with a cyber idea. Participants benefit from training, workshops and mentoring to help develop a minimum viable product.
  • Accelerator programmes run for three months to help connect growing cyber businesses with industry leaders and investors.

Google for Startups

Google for Startups supports new business start ups to utilise its resources, classes, connections and expertise. It also runs a number of programmes including:

  • Residency connects growth-stage start ups with Google’s products, connections and best practices. Participants receive tailored mentoring and access to workspace.
  • Immersion is a 12-week programme to connect high potential early-stage start ups with the London ecosystem. Participants get dedicated support to take their start up to the next level.
  • Startup School is a practical programme to help start ups access and develop the skills they need, such as project management and user experience.

Blenheim Chalcot is a venture builder to support the growth of digital businesses that transform industries. A venture builder works with start ups and typically takes care of raising money and looking after business operations. This leaves the start up free to focus on building their product.
