Changes to coronavirus loan scheme

The Chancellor has announced changes to the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme to ensure smaller businesses can access the funding they need during the COVID-19 crisis.

Annual leave rules relaxed

Rules on carrying over annual leave will be relaxed to support key industries during COVID-19. Workers who have not taken all their statutory annual leave will be able to carry it over into the next two leave years.

Wage increases come into effect

Increases to the National Living Wage and National Minimum Wage came into effect today (1 April 2020). The National Living Wage for people aged 25 and above has increased by 6.2% to £8.72.

New homeworking guidance

Acas has published new guidance about homeworking for employers and their staff. It covers health and safety, equipment, setting expectations, keeping in touch and pay.

Support for self-employed

Self-employed people facing financial difficulties will be able to have 80% of their monthly wages covered by the Government (capped at £2,500 per month). It will be calculated using average monthly profits over the last three financial years.

Strict new measures to tackle coronavirus

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced strict new measures to tackle the spread of coronavirus. They include only leaving the house to travel to work where absolutely necessary, exercise once a day or buy necessities.

Emergency coronavirus legislation

The Government is aiming to pass all stages of its emergency bill through the House of Commons. The bill will give the Government wide-ranging powers to respond to the coronavirus crisis.
